Our History

Over two hundred years ago, on Sunday, October 21, 1821, Lake Simcoe Congregation began in the small settlement of Georgina on the shores of Lake Simcoe.  Brother Huntley of the Free Christian churches in New York had been invited to become the first pastor.  Ten people were baptized in the lake that day.  This was the beginning of the fellowship later to be known as Keswick Christian Church.

At that point, the church was located in Upper Canada.  As history unfolded and Canada became a nation in 1867, church denominations in Ontario also experienced many changes in name and affiliation.  Keswick Christian Church continued associating with congregational Christian denominations.  In 2019 the church withdrew from the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC-US), and joined The Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada in April 2020.

A brochure with a more complete history of Keswick Christian Church is available at the church.

That October morning in 1821 on the shores of Lake Simcoe, no one could have predicted 200 years of continual ministry for Keswick Christian Church.  We praise God for His faithfulness to our church family and for all He has done … and we look forward with great anticipation to what He will do in our future.

To God alone be the glory!
